The Story of Egesta Mare

In the heart of Castellammare del Golfo, just a few steps from the charming Piazza Petrolo, Egesta Mare preserves an ancient soul. Our restaurant is housed within a former 1870s monastery, where tuff arches and original stone walls frame a familiar yet refined atmosphere. Our name pays homage to Egestes, the mythical founder of nearby Segesta, inseparably linking our identity to the history of this land.
Since 2007, we have been transforming this bond into a memorable dining experience: here, the cuisine of Chef Salvatore Lombardo harmoniously marries the oldest Sicilian maritime traditions with contemporary interpretations. We work exclusively with the finest ingredients from the Mediterranean, highlighting the fish caught in our gulf. For us, Egesta Mare means bringing the authentic essence of the sea directly to your plate.

Salvatore Lombardo

My culinary journey began as a child, surrounded by the aromas from my grandmother’s kitchen. Today, after a career spanning over 40 years in renowned historic restaurants and grand 5-star hotels, I still view cooking as an act of love.

Since 2007, I have been bringing my culinary philosophy to the table at Egesta Mare: an absolute respect for the ingredients of our gulf, where the great classics of Sicilian tradition meet a contemporary sensibility. To me, every dish is a unique melody created to stir the emotions.
